Professional Services Consultant, NetApp Focus
Job Summary:
As a Professional Services Consultant you will work to meet the requirements of clients by providing and deploying technical architectures that deliver the highest value add on Consonus solutions. In this role you will be expected to position and deliver company marketed solution sets and other custom consulting. This position requires a dynamic, hard-working and ambitious individual, with good oral and written communication skills. Individuals will also possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
In this position your overall focus areas will be in supporting and developing processes and systems for quick and thorough delivery of customer solutions, provide systems configuration recommendations, and apply your background and experience to deliver solutions to technical problems.
Overall scope of this position includes planning and delivering major portions of the implementation effort. Specific responsibilities include:
- Build and maintain confidence of colleagues and customers
- Be able to conduct small to medium engagements with customers independently
- Maintain and develop the knowledge of the entire NetApp product line
- Conduct pre-packaged NetApp consulting solutions in a timely and effective manner
- Assist in the development of standard reusable NetApp productized consulting service offerings, including definition of tasks, deliverables and standard estimates
- Help to document best practices in developing and deploying NetApp solutions, and feed them into our knowledge base
- Provide regular update/report to the team
- Identify customer needs and requirements.
- Answer customer questions.
- Provide technical consultation and disseminate product information to the sales team.

- Deliver on consulting tasks (e.g., installation and configuration of 3rd party applications)
- Contribute to the improvement or enhancement of Consonus consulting best practices
- Proficiency in one or more of the following NetApp Solutions:
- SAN, Exchange, Databases (Oracle, SQL), DR/BC, Virtualization, or Compliance
- 1 or more years of consulting and/or project management experience implementing storage solutions.
- Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them in a customer facing environment.
- Ability to follow standard engineering principles and practices.
- Creative approach to problem solving.
- Broad exposure to a variety of technologies/concepts in a distributed environment.
- Excellent analytical/problem solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, customer, business and negotiation skills.
- It is critical for this individual to understand the customer’s technical environment in order to be able to deliver effective solutions. Typical customer technical environments can include:
- Operating Systems: Unix/Linux and Windows systems administration functions including domain structures, file systems, disk partitions, mounts, quotas, and general security.
- Networking: Local area network technology, specifically Ethernet, IP, DNS and NIS associated daemons.
- Storage: SAN and NAS storage communications including caching and streaming technologies.
- Protocols: iSCSI, FCP, NFS, and CIFS
- Virtual environments: VMware
- Travel to the prospective customer's sites as necessary
- Systems admin knowledge of VMWare and/or NetBackup is a plus.
- Up to 75%+ travel required.
- As a seasoned professional with a wide range of experiences, this individual uses professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways.
- The tasks this individual is responsible for are often non-routine and unstructured, requiring creative solutions.
- This individual will apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving routine to moderately complex problems
- Demonstrate good judgment in solving problems as well as identifying problems in advance, and proposing solutions.
- The ideal candidate will be a proactive contributor.
- This individual effectively works with, and influences senior internal personnel within the function, employees in other functions that support the sales effort, and has direct customer contact.
- Limited management supervision and direction is provided since this individual operates and drives results independently.
- Fluent in English
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in which 2 years must be in customer-facing positions
- Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, technical projects
