CARY, NC – September 4, 2008 – Consonus Technologies Inc., a national data center and IT managed services provider, announced today that it has hired Michael Bucheit and Robert McCarthy in the roles of Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, respectively. The company also announced that Will Shook, former head of sales and marketing, will be assuming the role of Executive Vice President of Channel Alliances.
According to Consonus CEO Mike Shook, the company is constantly looking at the evolving demands of the technology industry, and exploring opportunities to better meet the needs of its customers and to grow as a company. “Adding expertise from outside the company, and even the industry, to our executive management team will certainly help us do that,” says Shook. “We are excited to welcome these accomplished individuals to our team.”
Since its merger in January 2007, Consonus Technologies has been positioning itself as a national leader in the design, implementation, hosting and managing of high-availability data center solutions. Specializing in managed services solutions focused on “advancing the data center,” the company opened its newest data center facility in Salt Lake City in April.
Executive Profiles
As the inaugural director of CTI’s corporate development efforts, Michael Bucheit will be responsible for collaborating with the company’s management team in the creation, development and execution of a formal corporate merger and acquisition strategy, and will be actively involved in the company’s efforts to raise capital.
Prior to joining Consonus, Bucheit led the launch of U.S.-based WR Hambrecht + Co’s investment banking business in Canada as managing director of the company’s technology group. Bucheit has also served as a partner at SFI Group, a merger and acquisition executive at GE Capital, and in corporate development and finance for Bankers Trust and Citicorp. Bucheit holds an M.B.A. from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in business management from Webster University in Vienna, Austria.
As CTI’s new EVP of Sales and Marketing, Robert McCarthy is charged with accelerating the company’s efforts to drive key areas of business including hosting, bandwidth, maintenance, managed services and professional services. Prior to joining Consonus, McCarthy was the president and CEO of Ring 9, a provider of hosted Internet protocol services to the SMB marketplace. Prior to Ring 9, McCarthy served as Vice President of Sales, Florida and Caribbean Region, for Computer Associates, the largest management software company in the world. McCarthy also served for 16 years at AT&T in a variety of capacities, most recently as Sales Vice President for Business Services in Florida. McCarthy holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering, as well as an M.B.A., all from Cornell University.
Former head of CTI’s sales and marketing and solutions consulting and delivery organizations, Will Shook will now be tasked with developing the company’s channel partnering strategy, which will involve initiating new strategic alliances as well as improving relationships and cross-sell opportunities with CTI’s existing vendor partnerships. Shook has distinguished himself at CTI in multiple executive roles, and has a record of consistent high performance over his 18-year tenure with the company.
